Silence

There I stood, so far yet so near

While her broken hearted crying I did hear.

Flow on and on, oh, silver tears

And let her cry out all her fears.

Her love had left her high and dry

And for this trifle did she sigh and cry.

While the world cried out in agony and pain

She shed tears for her beloved swain.

In a little while her tears did subside

And a tall, dark man came to her side.

At him a dazzling smile she beamed

Her pearly teeth whitely gleamed.

In a trice they were hand in hand

Trooping off to their romantic land.

Silence covered me in her cloak once more

And I hope she'll never leave me ever more!
